AustralianFootball.com Celebrating the history of the great Australian game
A Caulfield Football Club competed in the Victorian Football Association between 1965 and 1987, when it disbanded. The present day club of that name was established in 1993 by means of a merger between erstwhile Eastern Suburban Churches Football Association rivals St. Kevin’s Ormond and St. Andrew’s Gardenvale. Adopting the same Bears emblem as its predecessor the new Caulfield Football Club was a founder member in 1993 of the Southern Football League in which it enjoyed immediate success with the reserves winning a Division One flag on debut. The next season saw both the seniors and reserves going top in Division Two, but since then the success has dried up.
The Bears currently compete in Division Two in which they performed creditably in 2016, qualifying for the finals and ultimately finishing as runners-up to Port Melbourne Colts. A year later they again made the finals, ultimately finishing fourth, before dropping to fifth in 2018, and sixth the following year.
